Don’t Just Stop Working...
Celebrate Retirement!

I hope everyone gets to celebrate retirement.  It is the absolute best time in your life.  Yes, I am well aware that old age usually comes with it, but so does the freedom to do what you want, when you want and that is a feeling that more than compensates for everything that comes with this final stage of your life.  When I hear people complain about having too much time on their hands or no money to do the things they want to do, I think they could use a little instruction about making the most out of life and creating an existence that will get them to appreciate the gift that they’ve been given: the freedom to do whatever they want whenever they want!  They need to celebrate retirement – not complain about it!

Now, I realize that life has been hard for some people, and I do sympathize with that.  Losing a spouse is a real tragedy and struggling to make ends meet is something that I understand.  But what I also know is that people have it within their power to get through almost anything that comes their way.  Sometimes it isn’t easy.  Illness and the aging of our bodies can be difficult.  When walking becomes a hardship it’s easy to withdraw from life.  When a spouse is no longer there it can seem like the end of the world.  But making the effort to battle through these setbacks is worth whatever it takes.  There are ways to improve your health and conditioning and there are ways to find companionship.  It’s time to celebrate retirement and it’s time to re-energize your life.

You Can Celebrate Retirement by
Celebrating Life!

If you found this website it means you have all the skills you need to add some excitement to your life.  You can find some wonderful resources on hobbies and travel which are two of the best ways to fill your time.  I have many hobbies. In fact, this is one of them!  Believe it or not, I enjoy writing about one of my favorite subjects: retirement.  I think everyone deserves to enjoy this time in their life.  They lived long and worked hard enough to get here so why not celebrate retirement?  That’s what this website is designed to do.  Please explore all the topics.  Set aside some time and take The Self Discovery Challenge for Retirement. It's a process I created to help guide you through your memory bank to see what helped make your the person that you are today.  It's a little involved but I think you'll enjoy it and the best part is that it's completely free.  I don't even ask for your e-mail address. I truly believe that there is at least one hobby or interest that can change your whole outlook on life and many of them take very little money.  Just researching a passion or interest can turn an afternoon with nothing to do into a treasure hunt for something that will keep you occupied for days, weeks, months or even years.

If travel is your thing, the internet can provide resources that will inspire you and get you to feel like you almost visited the place.  It might even motivate you to actually doing it.  If you don’t visit the place you’ve always wanted to see now, when are you going to do it?  We’re not getting any younger.  Set a goal to get there and map out a plan to get there.  If money is a problem, there are ways to supplement your savings.  I’m not a fan of working but, if it’s to get something or be able to travel to a place you’ve always dreamed about, why not go for it?  Get a part-time job or even start a business.  Make the most of this time that you’ve been given.  Celebrate retirement and celebrate life.

I started this website because too many people don’t appreciate the gift of life that they’ve been given.  I don’t know how anyone can be bored or not know what to do with their lives.  That may sound a bit harsh but, if you look around this website, you’ll find many suggestions about how to make your life more exciting.  Believe it or not, the way you add excitement is to give your life purpose.  You should have a reason for everything that you do in retirement.  There are new things to learn, exciting places to explore and new hobbies and interests just waiting to draw you into an adventure in learning and mastering new skills.  And, just so you know, I practice what I preach.  I traveled for business during my working career but I have done far more traveling in retirement.  I love history and I’ve seen places I only dreamed about.  History comes alive when you see the place things actually happened.  The Alamo, Ford’s Theater, the Vatican, the Parthenon and the Coliseum are spectacular for any lover of history.  But, if nature is your passion, Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon, the Redwoods, Big Sur or just an eagle in flight are sights that you won’t forget.  But I've learned that to make travel even more exciting, you need a purpose.  You want to learn as much as you can about the places that you visit.  We've developed the discipline of hiring a tour guide wherever we go to share their expertise about the place we're visiting.  Yes, they cost a little bit extra money, but you get so much knowledge that you feel like you know the area.  You develop a fondness for the people because you've taken the extra time to learn their history and background. Now, when we hear about one of the areas we've traveled to in the news, we have a solid grasp on what they're experiencing and it makes you realize that we all share the same planet and, in the end, we all want the same things.  You can make new friends wherevery you go and create new memories that you'll treasure for a long time to come.  The possibilities are endless and it’s all just waiting for you.   It’s time to celebrate retirement and Enjoy Retired Life!
