Now Is The Time!

If you’re like me, you spent decades working for someone else while you made as much money as you could to provide for your family and save for retirement.  Well, now is the time to enjoy the fruits of your labor.  Were there things that you put off because of the demands of work?  I cancelled two vacations because of projects that needed my attention and meetings where my presence was deemed critical.  In both of those cases, the meetings never took place, and the projects could have proceeded very well without me.  I promised myself never to let work interfere with my family vacation plans again.  I also became more determined than ever to retire as early as I could and to make the most of this time in my life.

Although I did not retire as early as I would have liked, I am making the most of my retired life and have been enjoying retirement to the fullest for the last eight years.  It seems like it was yesterday when we set out for our first retirement journey not knowing what to expect.  My wife and I packed our Subaru Outback to maximum capacity.  We would be gone for twelve weeks, and we were prepared for anything.  We had wanted to do a road trip to see this wonderful country of ours and, when I finally finished my last day of work and we had put all of our Christmas decorations away, we said to ourselves “now is the time”.  We got started on retirement travel that has taken us to places we only dreamed of going.  Our first year we drove from New York to Florida and then slowly made our way from Tallahassee (after venturing all the way down to the Florida Keys) to Galveston, Texas.  We then made our way up to the center of the United Sates stopping in Missouri to pay our respects to Harry Truman and then over to Springfield to see the home of Mr. Lincoln.  It was a wonderful trip, and we immediately started planning for the next year.

We were determined to see as much of the world as we could, and we realized that we were not getting any younger.  “Now is the time” has been the theme for our retirement.  Tomorrow is something that is never guaranteed and good health can disappear at any time.  If there is one thing that I could get everyone to understand as they enter into their golden years, it’s that it’s no time to relax.  Make a list of every dream you ever had and start to make a plan to come as close as possible to making them come true.  While you may be too old to become the starting Center for the New York Knicks, you can have a lot of fun with a group of seniors who take their basketball as seriously as you do.  Now is the time to make those dreams come true because you never know what tomorrow might bring.

Now is the time to make your dreams come true.

Did you want to write the Great American Novel?  Start it today.  Why not?  Now is the time! Even if you don’t publish it, you will be amazed about how good it feels to create something like a novel.  I have written two that will never see the light of day, but I am very happy I took the time to do it.  Did you dream about becoming a Business Titan like Henry Ford or Bill Gates or Steve Jobs?  It’s never too late to start a business.  In fact, you can combine a love of writing with your business instincts by starting a website like this one.  There’s a company that will take you step by step through the process of creating a website and an extra income.  If you doubt that you have the technical skills to get a website up and running, put aside those fears and explore your options and listen to those who are very happy about the successes they’ve had in creating a nice income for themselves.

Now is the time to get started making your retirement everything you’ve always dreamed about.  Do some self-examination and think back to those aspirations you had in your youth.  It’s never too late to start making them become a reality.  You could be having lunch at the Eiffel Tower next week or sailing on a yacht in the Mediterranean.  There’s no limit to what you can do.  And, if you think money might be a problem, explore what I think is the perfect business for every retiree.  Starting a website is a lot of fun and it can create a very nice income.  The truth is that it can be as big as you want it to be because you can turn it into a podcast or even a publishing empire.  You can be the next guru on a topic you feel passionate about.  The possibilities are endless and so is the fun.  Why not get started today?  It’s time to Enjoy Retired Life!
