Start A Website In Retirement

It’s no secret that I absolutely love retirement.  If you explore this website, you’ll see many recommendations on what to do and where to go to have an absolutely wonderful retirement.  I’ve been adding to this site for the past five years and I came to the realization that working on this website is now one of the things I enjoy doing most in my retirement.  So, my question for you is why not start a website in retirement?  I’m being very serious.  I think websites are the modern day “scrapbook”.  Do you remember having a scrapbook when you were younger?  You cut out pictures and stories that interested you.  You saved pictures of parties and places that you visited.  My scrapbook had articles about Mickey Mantle, baseball cards, newspaper articles from baseball games and boxing matches and, sadly, the newspapers from the Kennedy assassination.  It was a hobby in every way.  It was interesting and creative and let you relive those moments from the past.

Start a website in retirement and you'll start to look at the world in a different way.

That is exactly what this website has done for me.  I would compile the information you read about on these pages even if no one ever came to my website because there is something about this process that I have come to enjoy doing very much.  I started it during the Covid pandemic as a way to keep myself occupied and motivated.  After all, there weren’t too many things you could do, and traveling was out of the question.  I refused to sit in front of the television all day, so I began to write different articles and got into a habit of putting my thoughts on paper every day.  The thought occurred to me that it might be fun to start a website.  I wasn’t sure if I had the skill or even the long-term commitment but, as you can see, it has grown steadily over the years.  There are now more than two hundred different entries, and they reflect many of the interests that I have.  The recurring theme is that everyone should Enjoy Retired Life as much as I do and it is something I get more passionate about with each day.  Once the world opened up again, our days became much busier as we made up for lost time.  For a while, this website took a back seat to travel so for about a year the number of pages that I was able to add declined a bit.  I found that I missed it.  I missed the writing and the sharing of all of our adventures.  This website has become more than just a hobby and I’m not sure why more people don’t start a website in retirement.  It’s fun, challenging and can be financially rewarding all at the same time.

The Cruise Experience Can Be Life Changing

You’ll find that traveling is one of my favorite topics and I write about it not to show off but to inspire.  Traveling is one of the best ways to learn new things.  I love history and the ability to bring what happened in an area alive through an expert guide is one of the most rewarding things you can do.  Any trip can be expensive, but I regard it as an investment in my education.  Why not maximize that investment by using an excellent guide who will maximize your time by cutting through the crowds and providing information that most travelers will never hear.  Traveling is more than taking a selfie, checking off a box and buying a tee shirt that becomes the equivalent of a passport stamp to show that you’ve been to a certain location.  There is so much to learn and to do.  You can start a website in retirement just on the subject of travel and people do it all the time.  Not only is it enjoyable but it can be profitable as well.  Who knows, you can even become an author if you find the unique twist to put on your journey.  A Vegetarian’s Guide to Europe?  Why not?

Cookbooks

But you can start a website in retirement about any passion that you have.  You can have your own blog or podcast if you want.  Are you good at a particular card game?  Start your own videos with insider’s advice on how to play the game well.  Cooking is an incredible area to share your expertise and so is gardening, woodworking, sewing, stained glass or even calligraphy.  The possibilities are endless, and you offer something no one else can share: YOU.  We are all unique with our own different perspectives and sharing those thoughts and ideas is what makes life interesting.  People share their own reviews on restaurants, movies, books and cruise companies.  Why couldn’t that be you?  I guarantee that if you sit down and start to put words on paper about a subject that interests you, it will become very clear that it's more enjoyable than you thought.  And, if you keep at it, it might even become an obsession!

I’m constantly thinking of new things to write about and today it occurred to me that other people might enjoy doing it as well.  All they need is a little nudge.  So, consider yourself nudged.  I think you might have more fun than you think.  It’s time to try new things.  It’s time to Enjoy Retired Life!
