This is a Great Business for Retirees
For the past six years I’ve been working on this little website and have enjoyed it immensely. So much so that I think everyone should have their own website. This is a great business for retirees but also a great business opportunity for those who are still working and looking for a little extra money. Tell me another business that has such a small startup cost with as much income potential. You can work from home at your own pace, and your business can create an income any time of day from anywhere in the world. About ten years ago a friend of mine wanted to start a card and gift store as a “relaxing” business that he could manage in retirement. When he calculated the start-up costs, the inventory headaches and the fact that he would have to be on call every day to open and close the store, he wisely looked at what other alternatives were out there. It didn’t take him long to see how a website might be the answer to his desire to find something interesting to do in retirement that might also provide the chance to make a little money as well. He writes reviews for fishing equipment and has started a blog on great fishing locations that he’s visited. He can’t believe how much fun he is having and the interesting contacts he has made.
This is a great business for retirees because there is almost no overhead.
If you have a hobby or passion that you’re interested in, don’t overlook the possibility of starting a business with that interest as the basis for what you create. And, while you can still go the traditional “retail” route with a store and a lease and plenty of overhead, why not look into creating a website that can give you access to a worldwide audience? The days when you needed to be a technical wizard to create a website are long gone and just about anyone who can write an e-mail can create a money-making website. Retirees are doing it by the hundreds and it’s easy to see why. With such a low investment cost, why wouldn’t you do something that might put a few extra dollars in your pocket in self-defense of the rising costs we’ve been seeing lately. Even better, why not work at something you love and turn your knowledge, hobby and interest into a business you can be proud of. This is a great business for retirees who would like to stay engaged, try new things and find a way to pay for some of the finer things in life. Seniors just like you have started their own restaurant or recipe review sites and cruise fanatics have offered their “takes” on different cruise lines and itineraries. It’s not unheard of to be offered a discount or even a complimentary cruise in exchange for a review on your website. When you become a player on the internet a whole new world opens up and it can be very exciting to watch the number of visitors from all over the world to come by to read what you have to say.
You no longer need a degree in computer programming or even a technical background to start a website. One company will lead you step by step along the way to creating a website you can be proud of and help you get the traffic and visitors you need to turn your business into a profitable one. It can lead to opportunities you never imagined. I’ve been offered the opportunity to be regular contributor to a regional magazine, and it made me realize that the internet is an extremely powerful business tool and that your content is what draws people in. I love talking about retirement and how enjoyable it has been and, when I hear someone say that something I wrote inspired them to do something, that’s even better than a commission check sometimes. This is a great business for retirees or anyone else that has a hobby that they love to talk about like cooking, writing, cruising, gardening or antique collecting. The possibilities are endless and you will be amazed at the possibilities of affiliate marketing which is simply writing about something and referring someone to a website for further information. When you think about it, we all make recommendations on different products so this is just giving our opinions a worldwide audience and, if you have a knowledge and a passion about a particular subject, there’s a good possibility that you might convince your reader to give a product or a service a try. That’s how the money is made and there’s no better feeling to wake up to find out that you made a sale while you were fast asleep.
This is a great business for retirees who are finding themselves with too much time on their hands. It will stimulate your mind, get your creative juices flowing and get you to learn a new skill while becoming part of a fast-growing group of entrepreneurs who are creating their own presence on the internet. If nothing else, you’ll have your friends fascinated as you talk about your new business. You might even inspire a few to follow your lead because this is a great business for retirees.
