Change Your Mindset In Retirement

Too many people think of retirement as an endless round of golf or laying on the beach sipping an umbrella drink.  They think their life has passed them by and what they can accomplish has already been done.  If you’re one of those people, you need to change your mindset in retirement because this part of your life is filled with exciting possibilities.  You no longer have to answer to a supervisor and your time is your own.  Make the most of it.  There is definitely some unfinished business that you have to attend to.  This is the time to revisit your dreams and make sure that you’ve done all the things that you want to do.  No dream should be eliminated no matter how crazy it might seem now.  You may have to make a few adjustments, but you can still get a lot of satisfaction from those fantasies from your youth.

Journal

I know someone who really wanted to be a pilot but just didn’t have the money to take flying lessons and now, at the age of 78, feels he would be a danger if he was ever in a cockpit by himself.  After some careful thought, he came up with an idea that has given him a great deal of pleasure and some excitement.  He bought a drone that has a camera and has become very adept at steering his little flying machine through the air and taking some great pictures.  He’s even going for a license so he can sell some of those pictures and do some commercial work.  Real Estate agents love to have an aerial view of their listings, and my friend has earned some nice money doing something he really enjoys.  He realized that if you change your mindset in retirement, you open the door to some exciting possibilities.

Change your mindset in retirement and your whole life can change.

Actually, what my friend has done are two different things.  First, he learned a new skill and, secondly, he started a business.  A business like that didn’t exist when we were younger, but technology has created all kinds of opportunities for new ideas and ways to apply them.  Many seniors have used their free time in retirement to master the new technology that is available.  I admit it can be a little bit annoying to be in the presence of someone who does nothing but look at their phone but I do admire those retirees who are not afraid to tackle something new and download some amazing application that keeps them entertained and engaged with the world.  If you change your mindset in retirement, you can make this a time to create new experiences rather than just reliving old memories.  It’s what keeps you young and focused on the positive.

Retirees are starting businesses in record numbers.  While it is true that many do it to make ends meet and create an extra income, a lot of retirees are having the time of their life doing something they enjoy and making a little extra cash at the same time.  If that sounds good to you then the first thing you need to do is to change your mindset in retirement and start looking toward the future rather than remembering what might have happened in the past.  Some people have failed at a business and are afraid to try again.  The interesting thing, however, is that, in retirement, you usually have an income that you can fall back on from social security, a pension or money from your investments so any income generated by a business is, indeed, extra spending money.  And the best part is that you don’t need a lot of money to start a small business.  Technology has put some amazing possibilities within our grasp.

The Cruise Experience Can Be Life Changing

Many retirees have turned to the internet as their path to start a business and create extra income.  Starting a website is a possibility for anyone and there is one company that I recommend that will lead you step by step in developing your idea into a money-making reality.  Retirees who thought they had no technical skills are doing this all the time and having a blast doing it.  If you change your mindset in retirement, there is no limit to what you can do.

But you don’t have to start a business to realize that retirement is your second chance in life.  Your chance to do all the things that you didn’t have the time to do while you were busy earning a living and raising a family.  Change your mindset in retirement and you can do many of the things that you dreamed about in your youth.  I am tremendously grateful to be able to say that I’ve traveled further than I ever thought possible and have seen almost everything that I had put on my list.  I couldn’t wait to retire, and I was determined to make the most of whatever time I had left on this earth.  When you look at retirement as a beginning rather than an end, it’s amazing what can happen.  It’s time to go out and live your dreams.  It’s time to Enjoy Retired Life!
